10/07/2018 The territory of the Ribeira Sacra lives, at this time, its most important moment with the grape harvest. The collection works take place on the banks of Sil, Miño and Cabe and every year attract more travelers and people interested in knowing first hand how our wines are made, the wines of heroic viticulture.
To start in the viticulture of the Ribeira Sacra, is required to visit the Ribeira Sacra wine center . The center, located on Comercio street in the city centre, includes tapería, a wine shop with the reference marks of the D.O. and exhibition. The Regulatory Council of the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin has its headquarters in the same building.
The museum space offers a trip to the visitor for the natural elements of the Ribeira Sacra: land, water, sun, fog, terraces, civil architecture, nature, Romanesque, wineries, festivals, traditions, crafts, ... This innovative permanent exhibition inquires about the wine culture and our wines, increasingly internationally acclaimed. In a guided tour you can enjoy the photographs, videos, sculptures, paintings, sounds and lights of the Ribera Sacra and know the true history of wine that is part of the lives of people here, shaping their personality, as they make up the one of the wine.
The old town hall of Monforte is the building that houses the wine center and the tourism office. The facilities are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. at 2:00 p.m. and from 16:30 h. at 8:00 p.m.
The hours of the guided tours to the Interpretation Center of Ribeira Sacra - wine center are: 11:30, 12:30, 17:00 and 18:30 hours. You can also arrange group visits at other times by calling 982 105 303. At the end of the visits there is a wine tasting of the Ribeira Sacra. The entrance price for the exhibition is € 2.50. For people over 65, minors and unemployed, € 1.50 and for groups of more than 10 people, € 2.
