06/15/2022 Monforte hosts on the Paseo del Malecón, on July 1st, 2 and 3rd, a new edition of the Monforte Ribeira Sacra Wine Festival. A different proposal with an extensive program of activities that revolve around wine, the true protagonist of the Festival as it is a vehicle capable of uniting history, tradition, culture and landscape.
In this edition of the Festival there will be 27 wineries: Algueira, Peza do Rei, Ponte da Boga, Abadía da Cova, Alma das Donas, Lucenza, Rectoral de Amandi, Don Bernandino, Adega Vella, Condado de Sequeiras, Pilares de Belesar, Rectoral de Gundivós, Guímaro, Viña Vella, Malcavada, Petrón, Don Cosme, Cruceiro, Finca Cuarta, Cividade, Santa Mª de Nogueira, Val da Lenda, Proencia, Finca Millara, Gullufre, Ciudáseis and Amedo.
The opening and closing times of the Wine Festival stands will be on Friday, July 1st, from 7 p.m. to 12 p.m. On Saturday, July 2nd, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 12 p.m. and Sunday, July 3rd, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a Gastronomy Zone with products from the region and craft stalls. There will be children's workshops and as a novelty there will be two workshops for adults on Introduction to Wine Tasting from the Ribeira Sacra. With a capacity of 30 people, the tastings will take place in a space of the Reception Stand called "Tasting Room".
3 Vinoroutes will be developed, appointments in which visits to wineries are combined with visits to Romanesque monasteries, viewpoints over the Cañón del Sil and the River Miño, river routes, crafts and, of course, emblematic monuments of the city of Monforte de Lemos as well as the history, legends and traditions of the Ribeira Sacra.
- On Friday, July 1st, starting at 3:15 p.m., the Sil Wine Route will take place: “Ribeira and Bosque”, with a catamaran tour of the Sil Canyon and a visit to Regina Viarum. Route of 1.5 km to the Pena do Castelo viewpoint and return to Monforte de Lemos to enjoy the Wine Festival.
- On Saturday, July 2nd in the morning, starting at 9:30 a.m., the Miño Wine Route will take place: "Walking between vineyards", with a hiking route in the Codos de Belesar, to take the catamaran along the River Miño, go to A Cova Beach and visit Vía Romana with commented tasting and return to Monforte.
- In the afternoon, from 3:15 p.m., the third of the routes will take place, the Sil Wine Route: “Wine and Tradition”, which will take the participants to learn about a centuries-old trade such as the Gundivós Pottery in the municipality of Sober . We will visit the Rectoral de Amandi and Adega Vella wineries and the Soutochao Viewpoint, and then return to Monforte de Lemos.
Musical performances in the Campo de San Antonio
On Friday the 11th at 11 p.m., there will be a performance by POL 3.14, a solo singer and composer with an important musical career since 2010, with a unique style without hesitation and personality, which placed him on the scene within the realm of current pop music.
On Saturday, July 2nd, also at 11 p.m., the Nova Galega de Danza company will fuse live dance and music with Galician roots, tradition and avant-garde with a universal vocation, through its show called “Leira”, with the collaboration by the artist Rosa Cedrón.
After the opening of the festival, which will take place on Friday, July 1st at 7 p.m., there will be a performance by Donaire, a folk music association that has a long history of performances and awards, and which is made up of dancers, tambourines and a musical group.
