12/6/2023 Monforte de Lemos dresses up for Christmas to say goodbye to 2023 and welcome 2024 with enthusiasm. The monuments and main spaces of the city enjoy atmosphere to bring the Christmas spirit to the entire city, with more than 60 illuminated streets and more than a million LED lights.
In the exhibition hall of the House of Culture there will be the Galician Nativity Scene by J. Antonio Dávila, which will be on display from December 14th to January 10th. And the Albores Association decorates the Hall of the City Council for Christmas, once again.
For 2 weekends, the Plaza de Abastos hosts the Nadal Market, on December 22nd and 23rd and 29th and 30th. There will also be cultural and musical entertainment activities with the aim of presenting a cultural, musical and gastronomic offer in a Christmas atmosphere. The Apalpador will visit the streets of the city and the market area of the Plaza de Abastos during the morning of Saturday, December 24th.
Concerts, theater and shows
- December 16th, at 8:00 p.m., at the Poeta Lois Pereiro House of Culture, the Viraventos theater group will perform “The Blindness of Cupid; Because love is never what it seems."
- December 20th, at 6:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building 23rd Exhibition of Christmas Carols for Teaching Centers.
- December 21st, at 8:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building, Nadal Festival 2023 by the Municipal Conservatory.
- December 22nd, at 8:00 p.m., Nadal Choral Concert 2023, at the Nuestra Señora de la Antigua Church with the performance of the Sarria Polyphonic Choir, the Adult Choir of the Viveiro Conservatory and the Monforte City Council Polyphonic Choir.
- December 23rd, at 8:00 p.m., Doc Magoo's concert on Cardenal Street.
- December 26th, at 6:00 p.m., at the Poeta Lois Pereiro House of Culture, Trémola Teatro will perform “Elves in practices”
- December 28th, at 8:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building, Ítaca Teatro will perform, “Five minutes without breathing.”
- December 30th, at 8:00 p.m., on Cardenal Street, Malenne concert.
- January 3rd, at 8:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building, New Year's Concert that will be performed by the Vigo Classical Orchestra. Organized by the Monforte Philharmonic Society
- January 4th, at 8:15 p.m., at the Poeta Lois Pereiro House of Culture, the comedian and storyteller, Xan Veiga, will offer his show “Sonchistorias.”
Kings Parade
One of the most anticipated days will be Friday, January 5th, when the Three Wise Men of the East will arrive at the Monforte train station around 5:30 p.m. The parade of Royal Carriages and their entourage will begin at 6:30 p.m. from Plaza de la Estación until reaching the City Council, to the Plaza Campo de San Antonio. A little later, at 7:30 p.m., Their Majesties will read their speech from the balcony of the Town Hall and will receive the boys and girls at an official reception.
The city council wants Monfortinos and visitors to live these festivities with joy and enthusiasm, which they hope will contribute to boosting the productive sectors, especially hostelry, commerce and tourism.
