12/16/2024 Monforte de Lemos dresses up for Christmas to say goodbye to 2024 and welcome 2025 with enthusiasm. The monuments and main spaces of the city enjoy ambience to bring the Christmas spirit to the entire city, with almost 70 illuminated streets and more than 1.2 million LED lights.
In the exhibition hall of the Culture House there is the Galician Nativity Scene by J. Antonio Dávila, which will be on display until January 8th. And the Albores Association decorates the lobby of the Town Hall for Christmas, once again.
For 2 weekends the Plaza de Abastos hosts the Nadal Market, on December 21st and 22nd and 28th and 29th. There will also be cultural and musical entertainment activities with the aim of presenting a cultural, musical and gastronomic offer in a Christmas atmosphere. O Apalpador will visit the streets of the city and the market area of the Plaza de Abastos during the morning of Saturday, December 24th.
Concerts, theater and shows
- December 14th, at 8:00 p.m., at the Poeta Lois Pereiro Culture House, the Viraventos theater group will perform “Copacabana”
- December 19th, at 8:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building 24th Exhibition of Christmas Carols for Educational Centers.
- December 20th at 8:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building, Christmas Festival 2024 by the Municipal Conservatory
- December 21st at 7:00 p.m., Christmas Choral Concert 2024, at the Nuestra Señora de la Antigua Church with the performance of the Coro Ensamble Vocal Gijón, el Coro de Voces Graves de Vigo and the Coral Polifónica Ayuntamiento de Monforte.
- December 21st, at 8:00 p.m., 7Rojo Christmas Concerts in Cardenal Street.
- December 23rd, at 8:00 p.m. at the Culture House, Lyrical Recital by Emilia Pérez and Lucas López. Organized by the Monforte Philharmonic Society.
- December 26th, at 6:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building, Trécola Producións will perform, “Coa music a outra parte.”
- December 27th, at 8:00 p.m. at the Culture House humor show by Alberte Montes with "Patrón."
- December 28th, at 8:00 p.m., on Cardenal Street, Christmas Concerts with Movilla and Los Irrepetibles.
- January 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. at the Culture House Lilá Teatro will perform "Cachopo máxico."
- January 3rd, at 8:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building, New Year's Concert that will be performed by the Orquesta Clásica de Vigo. Organized by the Monforte Philharmonic Society.
Three Kings Parade
One of the most anticipated days will be Sunday, January 5th, when the Three Wise Men of the East will arrive at the Monforte train station around 5:30 p.m. The parade of Royal Carriages and their entourage will begin at 6:30 p.m. from Plaza de la Estación until reaching the Town Hall, to the Plaza Campo de San Antonio. A little later, at 7:30 p.m., Their Majesties will read their speech from the balcony of the Town Hall and will receive the boys and girls at an official reception.
The city council wants Monfortinos and visitors to live these festivities with joy and enthusiasm, which they hope will contribute to boosting the productive sectors, especially hostelry, commerce and tourism.
