08/30/2018 The city council of Monforte, member of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters, organizes a series of activities to celebrate September 2, the International Day of Jewish Culture.
There will be guided and free tours to the Monforte Jewish Quarter. The departures of the visits will be at 11:30 h. and at 6:00 p.m. from the Tourism Office, on Comercio street.

The House of Culture "Lois Pereiro" will also host from 8:00 pm. a concert of traditional Iberian and Sephardic music. The Spanish philologist, musician and folklorist, Paco Díez will offer a concert starting at 8:00 p.m. The one who was a candidate for the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts in 2016, is considered the greatest specialist of Sephardic folklore in Spain.
These activities organized by the municipality of Monforte are part of the programming of the European Days of Jewish Culture that take place in cities throughout Europe and are designed by the AEPJ (The European Association of the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage ).
In 2017, more than 420 cities from 28 European countries participated in these conferences, reaching 179,000 people, which makes these days an essential meeting of the European cultural schedule.
