12/18/2019 Monforte dresses up Christmas to say goodbye to 2019 and welcome 2020. The Tribute Tower, the Squares of Spain, San Antonio, Carude, Os Chaos, the Station and the main streets enjoy the atmosphere necessary to bring the Christmas spirit to the whole city. Besides, the Square of Spain has the great Star that was decorated chosen for the Christmas photographs of numerous neighbors and visitors in the past Christmas. However, from the Monforte City Council it is sought that the atmosphere in the streets help to boost local commerce and that the purchases of these dates are made in the city.
With the same purpose this weekend celebrates, from December 21st and 22nd, the Christmas Market in the Plaza: Gifts, handicraft decoration and games 2019. Craft stalls, decoration, toys, gifts and accessories for Christmas will be given appointment at the Plaza de Abastos, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Also, on the 21st there will be a “Christmas Showcooking” - Creative cooking workshop for boys and girls, from 11 am to 2 pm and at 6 pm there will be a “Filipa con los cuentos” storytelling. On the 22nd, the “Christmas Cooking Showcooking” will be for adults, keeping the schedule from 11.00 to 14.00. The Workshop "Christmas in equality" will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., by the illustrator Laura Cortés. 3D postcards will be created with female Christmas characters such as "La Apalpadora".
This Thursday, December 19th, the Multiusos Building welcomes the XXIª Carol Show for teaching centers starting at 6:00 pm. On Friday, December 20, at 8:00 p.m., celebrates the Municipal Conservatory Christmas Festival at the Multiusos Building, in honor of the local musician, Luis Nieves.
On Saturday, December 21st, at 8:00 p.m., the majestic Church Our Lady of the Antigua-Colegio PP. Escolapios will be the stage of the Choral Christmas Concert, with the participation of the Coral RENFE de Monforte, the Coral Voces e Cordas de Sobrado do Bispo (Ourense) and the Polyphonic Coral City Hall of Monforte.
Children are who enjoy on these dates and to continue filling them with enthusiasm they will have activities such as the representation of Duncan de Palleiro, of the Lilá Theater Company, on Monday, December 23th, at 6:00 p.m., in the Multiusos Building.
The Apalpador, a traditional Christmas character, will visit the streets of the city and the market area-Plaza de Abastos during Tuesday morning on December 24th.
On Friday, December 27th, the Lucecús Theater company will represent a comedy aimed at the family audience: The true story of the poet Manuel de Paderna. It will be at 6.00 p.m. in the Multiusos Building.
On Friday, December 27th, at 8:15 p.m., at the Culture House, the Moriatov Family will offer the traditional concert with which every Christmas delights the city of Monforte, through the Philharmonic Society of Monforte.
To prepare to say goodbye to the year, on Monday, December 30th, the New Year's Eve Children's Party will be held, in the market area of the Plaza de Abastos, from 11 am to 1 pm.
Also on Monday, December 30th, the company Titiriterra will represent puppet theater for children and families: Belarmina, the fabulous belutina. It will be at 6.00 p.m. in the Multiusos Building.
Already in 2020 three activities will star the Christmas cultural program in the city, the Xingros Big Band concert, on Friday, January 3, at 8:00 p.m. at the Lois Pereiro Poet Culture House. On January 4, 5 and 6 the markets of the Plaza de Abastos will have scalextric tracks with the following schedules: Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sunday 5 and Monday 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
And the Three Kings Parade to be held on Sunday, January 5th. The expected visit of the Magi from the East will begin at 5.00 p.m. with the arrival at the Monforte railway station. The parade of Carrozas Reales and its entourage will begin at 6:30 p.m. from the Plaza de la Estación until reaching the City Hall. At 7:30 p.m. His Majesties will read his speech from the balcony of the City Hall. Then, they will receive the children on the ground floor of the City Hall.
